Casa Dorinda, accredited by the national Continuing Care
Accreditation Commission, is owned and operated by the Montecito
Retirement Association (MRA), a California non-profit corporation.
The corporation has a 16-member Board of Directors who serves
voluntarily and with no compensation. They are not residents of Casa
Dorinda, but live in the Santa
Barbara and Montecito communities and serve
on the board because of a personal commitment to continuing care
retirement. (A number of former board members have moved to the Casa
after their term of office expired.)
Each Director is elected to a three-year term and is eligible for
re-election to the Board of Directors for a second three-year term.
No Director may serve additional terms unless a period of two years
has intervened after the service of two three-year terms. Each Director
is nominated and elected to the board by the present members of the
board.
The MRA Board of Directors is responsible for the policies and
management of Casa Dorinda. They employ an Executive Director who in
turn employs a staff to provide services to the residents of Casa
Dorinda in accordance with the Lifetime Residence and Services Plan
Agreement. The residents of Casa Dorinda elect their own Resident
Council, which is an advisory body to the Administration and the
Montecito Retirement Association's Board of Directors.
Casa Dorinda's 16 board members devote their time and special
expertise to keep Casa Dorinda the kind of home residents have come
to expect and appreciate.
