Casa Dorinda maintains two Waiting Lists: an "in-house"
waiting list for those current residents who have submitted a request
to move to a different apartment, and an "outside" waiting
list for those applicants who wish to become residents. Whenever an
apartment becomes available, it is offered first to those residents
on the "in-house" waiting list who have requested an
apartment of that particular size, style and location. If no one on
the "in-house" waiting list accepts the apartment, it is
then offered to those applicants on the "outside" waiting
list who have indicated a desire for that size and style apartment.
Parties on both waiting lists are offered apartments in the
chronological order of their placement on the waiting lists.
While we can't guarantee that your apartment of choice will be
available exactly when you are ready to make your move to Casa
Dorinda, we will work with you in whatever way we can to bring about
a successful move that coordinates your preferred move-in date with
an apartment of the size and style you desire. However, there are
obviously a number of variables over which Casa Dorinda has virtually
no control.
Confidential Updates
Casa Dorinda requires all waiting list participants to submit updated
medical data every two years, and to inform our Admission Department
if your physical condition or financial position has significantly
changed since making application. (Please be aware that being on the
Waiting List is a conditional agreement. When an apartment becomes
available, you must still successfully meet certain medical and
financial requirements.) Future residents are important to us. We
make every effort to create a smooth transition from the Waiting List
to residency.
The Notification
You will be notified by letter, telephone or both about a vacancy to
determine if you are interested in considering the available
apartment. If you do not wish to accept the apartment, your name will
remain in its current position on the List. You may refuse an offer
as many times as you wish. However, if you formally reserve a unit,
then change your mind, you may lose your seniority on the Waiting
List.
Moving in
The day you accept an apartment, a Holding Fee will begin accruing on
a daily basis. This Holding Fee is calculated on the basis of the
costs incurred by Casa Dorinda of maintaining an apartment - i.e.,
utilities, depreciation and general upkeep - but excluding those
costs related to an individual's living in an apartment - i.e., food,
medical care and administrative services. The Holding Fee removes the
apartment from the resale market and covers some of the expenses of
that apartment while it is in the process of being renovated and
reoccupied. The amount of the Holding Fee is dependent upon the size
of the apartment.
After acceptance of an apartment, but prior to moving in, an
appointment will be made to have a physical examination by the Staff
Physician. The successful completion of the examination is the final
condition of acceptance to Casa Dorinda. You will be promptly
notified of the results of the entry physical.
Upon expiration of the Holding Fee Agreement or upon moving into
Casa Dorinda - whichever occurs sooner - you will be expected to sign
your Contract and pay the Entry Fee, as well as full monthly fee.
After you are here
Every new resident has adjustments to make to the new lifestyle. The
services of the Casa Dorinda staff have been designed to be as
helpful as possible. Residents, too, are helpful in welcoming you and
familiarizing you with Casa Dorinda.
